หลวงพ่อปาน พระเกจิชื่อดังสมัยรัชกาลที่ 5 แม้จะมรณภาพไปนานแล้วแต่ชื่อเสียงและคุณงามความดียังคงอยู่มิเสื่อมคลาย ภายในวัดมงคลโคธาวาส วัดที่หลวงพ่อปานเคยจำพรรษาอยู่ มีรูปหล่อหลวงพ่อปานประดิษฐานอยู่ในห้องโถงชั้นล่างของศาลาการเปรียญ ทุกปีจะมีงานนมัสการหลวงพ่อปานในวัน ขึ้น 5 ค่ำ ถึง ขึ้น 7 ค่ำ เดือน 12 ตรงกับช่วงเดือนพฤศจิกายน เป็นงานประจำปีของชาวบางบ่อที่จัดต่อเนื่อง

บริเวณหน้าวัดเป็นคลองด่านช่วงก่อนไหลออกทะเล มีประตูน้ำเค็มกั้นและศาลาริมน้ำสำหรับนั่งพักผ่อน ในอดีตป่าโกงกางละแวกนี้รกคลึ้มและอุดมสมบูรณ์เป็นที่อยุ่อาศัยของสัตว์น้อยใหญ่มากมาย โดยเฉพาะ ตะกวด หรือ ” เหี้ย” จนชาวบ้านเรียกขานวัดแห่งนี้ว่า วัดบางเหี้ยนอก ก่อนจะเปลี่ยนเป็นวัดมลคงโคธาวาสในภายหลัง

Luang Pho Pan at Wat Mongkhon Khothawat

Wat Mongkhon Khothawat is Located on Dan canal, just before it enters the sea. There is a watergate nearby, and also a gazebo where people can relax. The temple was formerly named Wat bang Hia Nok because the dense mangrove forest in this area was home to a number of water monitors ( hia in Thai )

During King rama V, s reign the much-revered Venerble Pan spent his monkhood at this temple. After his death, statue was created and enshrined on the ground floor of the sermon hall. The Luang Pho Pan Featival, a grand annual event in Bang Bo District is Held between thw fifth and seventh days of the waxing moon of the twelfth lunar month ( around early November).
