วัดโปรดเกศเชษฐาราม เป็นวัดที่สร้างขึ้นในสมัย พระบาทสมเด็จพระพุทธเลิศหล้านภาลัย รัชกาลที่ 2 ในปี พ.ศ. 2363 มีลักษณะเป็นโบราณสถานที่มีการผสมผสานสถาปัตยกรรมของชาวต่างชาติ (ทั้งตะวันออกและตะวันตก)

พระอุโบสถมุงหลังคาด้วยกระเบื้องมอญเก่า ไม่มีช่อฟ้าใบระกา หน้าบันมีศิลปะปูนปั้นลายเครือเถา ประดับลายคราม

ประวัติความเป็นมา
วัดโปรดเกศเชษฐาราม เป็นวัดที่สร้างขึ้นในสมัย พระบาทสมเด็จพระพุทธเลิศหล้านภาลัย รัชกาลที่ 2 ในปี พ.ศ. 2363 โดยโปรดเกล้า ให้กรมหมื่นภักดิ์พลเสพ เป็นแม่กองสร้างเมืองและป้อมต่างๆ ของเมืองนครเขื่อนขันธ์ ซึ่งในคราวนั้น เมื่อได้สร้างเมืองและป้อมต่าง ๆ เรียบร้อย กรมหมื่นภักดิ์พลเสพ ได้สร้างวัดขึ้นวัดหนึ่งทางด้านตะวันตกของเมือง และขอพระราชทานนามว่า วัดไพรยนต์พลเสพ ขณะที่พระยาเพชรพิชัย (เทศ) นายงานสร้างเมืองในครั้งนี้ ได้ขออนุญาตสร้างวัดอีกวัดหนึ่งคนละฝากฝั่งคลอง เมื่อสร้างเสร็จได้พระราชทานนามว่า วัดโปรดเกศเชษฐาราม ซึ่งแต่เดิม ชาวบ้านมักเรียกว่า “วัดปากคลอง” เนื่องจากอยู่ทิศ

จากวัดไพชยนต์ฯ เลี้ยวขวาไปตามถนนทรงธรรมประมาณ 200 เมตร ข้ามสะพานคลองลัดหลวงประมาณ 50 เมตร จะพบวัดโปรดเกศเชษฐารามอยู่ริมถนนบริเวณทางโค้งด้านซ้ายมือ
